Happy Halloween!

Okay, so daddy didn't quite get the video on when I first started crawling, but he really tried. Here's my monkey outfit from Halloween. I can sign "more", "eat", "play" and say "bye bye" and wave right now. I'm working on the rest of it, but it's hard to get a word in with my brother around. =)

Scarlett Crawls!

Hooray!  I did it.  I crawled for the first time.  Watch out world, here I come!

Scarlett at the Pumpkin Patch and other stuff

Scarlett went to the Pumpkin Patch with her big bro and the Kenney Family today.  She's signing "more", "eat" and "play" and she's started cruzing and pulling up on things.  Mom and Scarlett started Gymboree and go one to two times a week.  Tomorrow she'll be 8 months old!

Everything's Alright

Scarlett recently had numerous doctor's appointments, starting with her 6 month well-baby check-up.  She is a whopping 18 lbs. (80th percentile) and 27 1/2 inches long (95th percentile).  The doctor cleared her to begin eating meats and pieces of cereal.  Well, she really can't get cereal into her mouth by herself yet but she is picking up pieces and eating them when one of us puts one in her mouth.  She also recently had her tongue clipped due to a short lingual frenulum.  It really wasn't that tight but we opted to have it done now when it was a simple office procedure instead of having to sedate her if it did eventually effect her speech.
The big news was that Scarlett's ventricular septal defect (VSD) has closed on it's own!!  Scarlett was born with a small hole in the tissue that separates the two ventricles of her heart and at our recent follow-up visit to the cardiologist all tests showed that the hole had spontaneously closed.  We do not have to go back again (for this problem, and hopefully forever!).
Our little overachiever is already commando-crawling everywhere, and quickly, at the detriment of her big brother to get to his toys.  She is just now sitting up without support but she can already stand while leaning against the back cushions of the couch.  She has begun screaming, I mean singing loudly.  It's really fun at restaurants :)

Scarlett's Five Month Update

I want to apologize to anyone who actually checks this blog.  I haven't updated it in a very long time and Scarlett has changed so much.  Here are all the things she is doing.  At Scarlett's most recent doctor's appointment she was in the 70th percentile for both height and weight (which I'm sure you can tell from her pictures), which just means that she is in proportion, and the doctor told me to start her on solid foods.  She has now eaten cereals, veggies, and most of the fruits.  She loves fruits and veggies but, like her brother did, hates cereals.  We can't even get her to eat them mixed in with bananas.  She pushes the entire bite out with her tongue and won't eat until she gets formula.  Which leads me to her tongue.  She's "tongue-tied" and we're going to have it clipped...sometime.  She vocalizes all the time (Jerry swears she is saying "Mama" when she wants me but I know better) and has this pattern of singing very loudly right before she falls asleep, especially when we are driving in the car.  She is rolling all over the place so leaving her on the floor to play with toys is out!  Scarlett is also "creeping", so between that and the rolling, who knows where she is going to end up.  She is reaching for everything and when she gets it it goes right into her mouth.  Scarlett already has two teeth (both lower center on the same morning!) and more on the way, telling from the way she is mouthing toys and drooling!  Best of all, Scarlett LOVES Sawyer!!  She will watch whatever he is doing and laugh, which Sawyer loves.  All-in-all we have a very happy easy going baby.  Who could ask for anything more?

Check out Sawyer signing "more" to her in picture three.  A future SLP?

Grandparents

I have recently visited with both of my Great Grandmothers and my Papa.  Here are some of the photos that were taken of us.
